Classic Christmas Egg Nog

This eggnog is not for the faint of heart, only the bravest dare to try this uncooked version of a holiday classic.

Really, the uncooked version isn't scary at all. You just need to make sure you have the freshest eggs you can get your hands on. If you have access to farm fresh eggs, that’s amazing, but it is not necessary. A fresh grocery store egg will do the trick. As long as they’re fresh, there’s no need to fret about ingesting raw eggs. Don’t be afraid of the eggs, Rocky would be proud.

The uncooked nature of this nog also means that it, unfortunately, perishes quickly. Three days stored in the fridge is the maximum amount of time it can be kept but that really shouldn’t be a problem. With a creamy liquid base and a fluffy meringue top it’s truly an irresistible drink.

Even though this version has a short life-span you won’t regret making this creamy and rich holiday drink. It’s perfect for a crowd or, if you’re bold enough, it can be all be for you. I won’t judge if you drink it all by yourself, trust me it’s easy to do!

Classic Christmas Eggnog

4 fresh eggs separated

4 TBSP of white sugar

4 cups whole milk

1 cup of heavy cream

¼ cup of whiskey

¼ cup of brandy

¼ cup of spiced rum

2 tsp of vanilla extract

Garnish: grated nutmeg and cinnamon stick

Beat your egg yolks with 2 Tbsp. of your white sugar, add your milk, vanilla and alcohol, put aside.

Beat together the egg whites and the remaining 2 Tbsp. of sugar until you have stiff peaks. Once you have achieved these fluffy peaks, gradually fold them into your milk mixture.

In a separate bowl, beat your heavy cream until it has become whipped. Fold your whipped cream into the eggy milk. You can serve the eggnog in a punch bowl or in individual glasses. Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg and whole cinnamon sticks.

If you are not serving it right away, you can place this glorious elixir in mason jars and store in the fridge for no more than 3 days.
